00;00;33;23 - 00;00;57;04

You're listening to how I Met Your Monster. A podcast that explores the introductions to your favorite movie monsters. My name is Zack. I'm Danny and I'm Casey, and together we dive into the world of horror to find out how filmmakers have introduced us to our favorite monsters time and time again. This is how I met your mom. Oh.

00;00;57;07 - 00;01;22;06

You open it. We met him 15 years ago. I was told there's nothing left for you. Explorers in the regions experienced demons to solve ages to have a go. Here we go, Jack.

00;01;22;08 - 00;01;35;05

Oh. Surprisingly. Come on. No! We get no!

00;01;35;07 - 00;01;57;11

Welcome to how I Met Your Monster, the show where we discuss introductions to your favorite movie monsters today. The, unlucky fucks. Wait, how do you say Danny? Unlucky folks. Corn lucky. Unlucky folks. Yeah. Our triple feature continues with kind of like the the heart of this whole triple feature. The leprechaun, the four leaf clover, the luck, the all the bullshit.

00;01;57;19 - 00;02;17;27

Saint Patrick's day, Saint Patrick's day. We're talking about the leprechaun today. Actually, just leprechaun, let me say the leprechaun, but, well, he's the leprechaun. He is the. I did not know that his name was Lubdan. They don't say it in the movie, but it is his name. Oh, then now you make me anxious. Now it's.

00;02;17;29 - 00;02;46;00

I didn't know that. Well, I did not. Interesting. Oh, is it Lubdan? Oh it's Lubdan. Whoops. I'm glad you called it out. It's Lubdan apparently. Name is is loved in Bartowski. Slept in Bartowski. Well, just know that's it on villains.fandom.com. But toast is not Irish. That's Polish left in the task. That's a Polish name. Oh, goodness. Yeah, love.

00;02;46;02 - 00;03;04;19

Loved it. I'm so sorry. You guys love tonight. But that's what lobbed in. When did they. Is that like from like leprechaun Origins or something. Like where did that come from? It's in a movie. I just know that his name is loved in. Oh my God. Okay. You sure? Because you thought it was Leban. He also said Bartowski.

00;03;04;21 - 00;03;28;26

So in the Dead Meat fandom, it is they call loved in the leprechaun. Okay. That said, oh, I okay, I just googled what movie does the leprechaun get the name loved in? Oh, said the leprechaun is named London in the movies Leprechaun and Leprechaun. Back to the hood. However, the leprechauns creator, Mike Jones says that London was not the original name he chose.

00;03;28;29 - 00;03;53;24

Well, in the original draft of the script, Jones named the leprechaun Basil. Basil. Oh, great. But I don't know. I've never heard Lebanon before. Basil. Basil is green. Yeah. Leprechauns. Green. I'm just kidding. But why not? Clover? Clover. So little on the nose, don't you think? Can this be our episode where we just try to figure out the origins of the leprechaun?

00;03;53;24 - 00;04;14;09

How we met the monster? There's a ScreenRant article from 2021 that says Leprechaun Creator debunks the misconception that he was named London in the original script, but apparently the internet has spoken. Maybe it's in one of the sequels, which we are not really covering today, but, somewhere along the line he got the name loved and loved in the leprechaun.

00;04;14;14 - 00;04;38;24

Oh, I looked in the leprechaun. It. Well, it works, I guess. Yeah. No, I'll take his name. Should be Grady. Grady or he did it. We talk about how we're like, let's try to limit our, our voice work and impersonations of other cultures. And we have. Yeah, I would say no. I do believe the percentage of it is much higher that I didn't agree with that.

00;04;38;24 - 00;05;06;23

So that's true. You didn't. You fight us pretty hard on that. I thought you until now. You're just ghosts on this show. You're not anymore. Oh. Oh, we got ghosts. We've got leprechauns. Yeah.

00;06;05;18 - 00;06;31;25

By listening to this episode, Larry's flubbed in Larry, Larry the Leprechaun. You guys, do you remember the first time you saw leprechaun? No, no, as a as a wee lad, as a kid, I, the the only leprechaun movies that I watched were two and three. Two predominantly. Three occasionally. And I don't actually think I'd ever seen the first leprechaun until later in life.

00;06;31;27 - 00;06;48;09

Okay, how about you? Okay. Yeah, I think I saw them in order. I don't remember the first time, but I'm pretty sure that I saw one first and then, well, flicks, two and three and four and. Well, but I haven't seen the other ones, like leprechaun in the hood, back to the hood, or,

00;06;48;15 - 00;07;10;13

Okay. The origins or there's another one somewhere in there. Returns. Returns in space. Oh, I've seen in space. Yeah. Well, guys, I have only ever seen this one. Really? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Two and three are fun, Ellie. I mean, the other ones might be, but I can speak to two and three. Those are two. I could be wrong.

00;07;10;13 - 00;07;32;08

I haven't seen it in a long time. I seem to remember they leaned into. They had a lot of fun with kind of his powers and tricking people, which feels very leprechaun. Man. Feels, I don't know, it feels, fitting for a leprechaun movie. I feel like you don't remember when a lot in this one. We used to leave stuff out for leprechauns on Saint Patrick's Day, right?

00;07;32;12 - 00;07;50;05

Yeah. What did you leave out? What are they? What do you leave? I don't know, like I had a dollhouse. And so my mom, we were like, prepare it for the leprechauns, and then we'd leave them treats and stuff like that. So fun. Dude, people didn't do that. I don't know, we just ate a lot of cabbage. Was my mom cool?

00;07;50;07 - 00;08;07;09

Yeah. Yeah, probably. No. Super cute. I don't remember what their names were. Probably something she was like, yeah, we're going to. We're gonna find out that your mom wronged a leprechaun in her past. And like, she has to, like, pay for it every year. She's like, I must protect my children. Yeah. Oh, we must lay an offering to the leprechaun.

00;08;07;09 - 00;08;32;10

Yeah, I'm gonna call her after this by now. Speaking of that, if you guys have not seen the movie unwelcome on shudder, check that out. It's not leprechauns, but they're like little gremlins, and they have to, like, leave them offerings or they get attacked if they don't leave them a little thing. Cute. It's a fun movie, but, so leprechaun was, from Primark Pictures, which did a lot of direct to video stuff.

00;08;32;12 - 00;08;53;25

This one actually got a theatrical release and more. Did it make like $8 million? I think on a just less than $1 million budget? Wow. Oh, so it did fairly well. Part two didn't do so well. So then when they got to part three then it went direct to video three. Was was DirecTV in? This seems like a direct to video movie.

00;08;53;28 - 00;09;11;25

It very much did. Yeah. And I think that's probably because trademark was like that was their bread and butter. It was direct to video. Yeah. They did do some theatrical stuff, but it was mostly, yeah, mostly direct to video. So it's probably like shot in that style. But but yeah, I made a note like it just like starts, right.

00;09;11;27 - 00;09;35;22

Yeah. And then like a lot of direct to video stuff like did that, like there was no time for like fun title sequences. It just like starts and then like, do you see the leprechaun come in and, yeah, I think the reputation of this is there's a few, specific elements that helped, you know, leprechauns being something like kind of a universal monster that at that point, as far as I know, like, haven't really been done in the mainstream as, like a horror movie character.

00;09;35;25 - 00;09;54;14

Right? And then you have Jennifer Aniston, who is coming in with, I mean, it's obviously one of her first roles that knows. But, I love everything about her. No, I do, but she had a nose job after this movie, but I don't right after this thing, I don't know. I mean, her nose looks a lot different between this and friends, and they weren't where the far apart, where they, no friends was.

00;09;54;14 - 00;10;20;14

The next year. Friends started in 94, I believe. And, this was 93. I don't have anything against her original movies. Yeah, but let's talk about it. Well, no, I don't know. But she she does have, like, a very, very obvious charm. Like the I said to I was watching this with Cody and I see like, well, obviously get into it, but they kind of paint her character as someone who is just like, you know, I just want to go to the mall.

00;10;20;14 - 00;10;37;22

Like she's like, yeah, kind of hatable, you know, like that's how she's designed. But I was like, wow, she has so much charm that it's hard to, like, hate her. Like if you used any other kind of actress at the time playing the sort of valley girl like, I don't know, I thought I would. Yeah, I thought that really helped elevate the movie.

00;10;37;22 - 00;10;58;05

So horror, scary lip guns. That and I had another point I can't remember what. Oh and Warwick Davis Warwick Davis yeah. I mean can you imagine, like if they had cast anyone else in this role? He's so like between his voice, his, you know, maybe we don't want the movie. I won't speak for you too, but maybe we don't want the movie to be this, like, funny comedic romp.

00;10;58;05 - 00;11;19;15

You kind of want it to lean more into the horror I do. It's about a leprechaun. Yeah, well, that's the thing is, like. And when he. He kind of gets it, he's like, no, like you have to play into the silliness of it for this. Yeah. To work. And he obviously does. And an incredible job. Yeah. So this movie was originally designed to be more comical.

00;11;19;18 - 00;11;47;05

It was the feature directorial debut of Mark Jones, who also wrote it. And he had experience. He would you he used to write Scooby-Doo episodes. So his original vision for this movie was more like Scooby-Doo. Ask what you do. See some things. Yeah, yeah. Like when he goes through the fence and it's his body. Yeah. And I thought, like the scene where he's on the skateboard, like going back and forth between the two things and which reminded me of you, Danny.

00;11;47;05 - 00;12;13;27

The skateboarding. Because, you just started practicing skateboarding. Yeah, that's where I took my inspiration. There are tutorials on YouTube, but I've just been watching that scene on repeat. But yeah, so it was more like Scooby-Doo ask when they started and the like after like the test screenings, it was almost too comical. I saw a producer talking about how it came back, and it was probably like 70 to 80% comedy, and the rest was horror.

00;12;14;00 - 00;12;32;29

So they wanted to they this is one where they wanted to make it an R-rating. Yeah. Instead of and it like wasn't there. So they went back after principal photography was done and filmed additional scenes to make it gorier and scarier and to kind of like even out the comedy and the horror. So I thought that was kind of interesting.

00;12;33;05 - 00;12;57;14

Like, like, for example, the, the police officer who pulls the leprechaun over in his little car right in the original cut of the movie, the leprechaun, like, grabs his face and like, shakes it around and does whatever. And then, like, that's the scene. But then they went back and filmed that whole, like, chase sequence through the woods and like, where he breaks his neck and all that stuff like, that was all additional stuff.

00;12;57;16 - 00;13;21;23

And leaning into that R-rating a bit. Warwick Davis, he had mentioned that he almost regretted his performance a little bit because he wished that he knew it was going to be an R-rating, because he would have played it differently. Oh yeah, he fucking sworn. And then what he did. Yeah, said some obscene things. So he was kind of a little disappointed, I think, because he's like, when you're an actor, you want to know what you're going for.

00;13;21;24 - 00;13;49;10

And you thought it was going to be more, yeah, tame. And then he's like, well, then they wanted it to be awkward. But it's funny. It's like you could argue that his performance is kind of contrasts the horror, and that's what makes it memorable. Like kind of like, Pennywise where he's not playing into the I mean, I guess sometimes Pennywise does, but a lot of the times it is leaning into the clown part of it, which makes it disturbing because it kind of sets up your expectations for who this character is going to be.

00;13;49;10 - 00;14;08;01

And then all of a sudden he kind of, you know, undercuts it with, you know, something scary. Yeah. Yeah, totally. Because there are like when it gets scary, like there are a lot of moments in this movie that, you know, obviously the movie's a little dated, like you said it, at a pretty small budget, but there's some moments that have promise, like it's I totally get it.

00;14;08;01 - 00;14;33;29

Like it's creepy between like, the little girl voices in the trunk and a lot of the monster effects, especially in the finale. I think they do a pretty, pretty serviceable job, if I do say so myself. So I would describe it for sure. Serviceable. And the other makeup effects were done by Gabe Bartolo, who did like brain damage and basket case to Frank and hooker.

00;14;34;05 - 00;14;57;07

Oh, okay. So, yeah. So yeah, he must have worked. He. So he did work with Frank and Lauder a lot. But he also was additional crew. Some roles were uncredited, some were just like, he was on the crew for movies like Jason Lives, Texas Chainsaw Massacre two from beyond, Gremlins two and Casey. Even underworld.

00;14;57;09 - 00;15;16;01

He was like a, he was like a lab, like, supervisor for that, an underworld. And I know you like underworld. That would have been a nice because that's they have vampires and werewolves could be kind of neat if in one of the sequels they go to Ireland and they find it's like a whole clan of leprechauns, that'd be wild.

00;15;16;03 - 00;15;41;24

But it's like they're cool. Leprechauns like those always have cool vampires and werewolves. So the leprechauns are all wearing green leather? Yeah, yeah. Super tight, super gold plated. Like, oh yeah. Oh, yeah. So they're all like. They're all Kate Beckinsale in tight leather, but like, she's got like the face of the leprechaun. No, no it's she's like really great bodies.

00;15;41;24 - 00;16;07;00

Absolutely I would not allow that. But yeah like the I didn't notice this or I didn't really pay attention when I was younger watching this movie. But if you watch closely, you'll see that the leprechauns makeup gets like more intense throughout the movie. There was like three stages comparing it from the beginning to the end. Like before he melts in the well, spoiler alert, all his like, wrinkles and stuff get more like, exaggerated and and a little bit more scary.

00;16;07;02 - 00;16;27;03

Now, what's the like? What's the reason behind that? Is it because he's away from his goals for too long? I wonder if it's like he's getting his powers back. Oh I see, because like, as he gets his gold right and he starts like like when he takes the bag from Jennifer Aniston's character, which is Tori. When he takes the bag from her, he's like, oh, my powers are returning.

00;16;27;05 - 00;16;46;07

So he actually gets when he's uglier, he's more powerful. Like, I think so. Okay, I'm wondering if it's just supposed to be for the audience though, and not really for the story, like, but since it has to be, he's just more menacing for some reason, like because it's not like super noticeable, but you're like, oh, he really looks so much more scary now.

00;16;46;10 - 00;17;06;20

Yeah. Yeah, that could be it. He wants his because like I mean he's not he does kill a lot of people. Not really in this one. But in the sequels he kills a lot. And I mean he's not that menacing. You know what I mean. No, this is silly little guy. Yeah. Does he. Oh, I guess he kills the cop and he kills.

00;17;06;22 - 00;17;26;05

Yeah, it kills, like, across the store. I think for people about it. That's. Yeah, we should start a podcast. You get the show? Yeah. Okay. Should we head to O'Grady farm? I mean, I'm going to miss that Beverly Hills mall life, and I'm going to miss my watercress salads, but let's do it. What is that? Watercress. It's just the type of, like.

00;17;26;12 - 00;17;43;21

It's just like a type of green. Yeah, yeah. When she said that, I thought of, like, a water chestnut. She's like, I want a salad. Of what she wants watercress salad. And then she wants a specific type of water. It's very, Evian. Yeah. Very pure. She's very pure. She wants to be. And he's like, here's some meatloaf.

00;17;43;24 - 00;18;06;08

Yeah. He didn't even try to make that appetizing. That was disgusting. He was like, mushing it on Aasimar meatloaf. We made it extra sloppy for you, like. Nathan. You're scaring us. Meatloaf is. You know, like it? It's an abomination. No, I fucking do you think I like meatloaf? No. I know you don't like. You don't like loafs of meat.

00;18;06;11 - 00;18;27;04

Yeah. No, I don't like loaves of meat. I also don't like balls of meat. What about all of meat? Not. Not all of meat. All of loaf? No, I don't want anything in a loaf besides my bread. Thank you. Dude, speaking of olives, did you guys know that, like green olives with pimentos in them in the center, like those are stuffed in there?

00;18;27;07 - 00;18;42;00

No, that's how they grow in nature. Yeah. They don't just come like you keep I don't know, like I never thought about it as a kid like this. The green olive with the red thing. And like, that's that was like an olive. Whose job is that? You say you haven't thought about it as a kid, so that's not funny.

00;18;42;00 - 00;19;04;11

When I was a kid, I know when you were a kid. So then 20 years into your adult life. Yeah. Just now thinking about it. I want to be an olive stuffer. Okay. One might think that the leprechaun, was an olive stuffer, but was actually that. Was that a gay slur for for a leprechaun? Our buttholes. Now, Olive holds.

00;19;04;14 - 00;19;24;28

I'm going to shove my pimento in your olive. In your olive oil. I'm going to serve my pimento in your olive oil. Is it because they're green? You know, in a way whose butthole is green? You don't want a green. Oh, great. It's a leprechaun. Leprechauns. Guys, come on. I see it's like, who has a green bow? This is horrible.

00;19;25;00 - 00;19;50;06

When you're. If you're if your penis looks like a pimento pepper, that's not, Yeah. Anything's on the table there. Hey, we don't know what leprechaun sticks look like. Speak for yourself. That's true. They're like dogs. Like red rockets. If you know. But, like, like the wrinkles in it. Like that. His face is. Oh, like, it's got a red or a ridgeback red rocket.

00;19;50;08 - 00;20;09;06

Well, Rhodesian Ridgeback is a type of dog. It's like a dragon from Harry Potter. A red ridged rocket. Yeah. So, but no, you'd think he'd be in all of stuff here, but but he's, he's a shoemaker. He he's a he's a shoemaker. That's his job. So, wait, does that mean street shoemakers? Are they street? Oh, I don't know.

00;20;09;06 - 00;20;35;12

Think he could be a gay shoemaker? Cloggers or street? Oh, because, is all this stuff or was the gay thing? Oh, yeah. All right. I think you could be, all of stuff. Shoemaker. Oh, so you're buying. First of all, I'm just going to say this when it comes to stuffing olives. I like to look at this on a more of a fluid basis, and I think you could you could put your pimento in an olive whole and still align with any leprechaun.

00;20;35;12 - 00;20;58;09

Or if you want to be a leprechaun or you want to be a vampire or a werewolf, it doesn't matter. You put your pimento wherever you want as long as there is consent. Yeah, but yeah, but that's true. But consent is important. No, not. But Olive holds. But you're talking about other, races. I'm talking about. Yeah. Yeah, you can have, but it's okay.

00;20;58;11 - 00;21;27;03

Yeah. I actually enjoy pimento time back door introduced, werewolves into this, which were introduced bestiality into this. Yeah. So I would say that a leprechaun could stick his pimento in a vampire olive hole. Yeah, I agree, what is happening? I don't know what's happening. As long as you don't have garlic in the olives. Ooh. Yeah. Like if they're, like, marinating all over and you're like, oh, the oil.

00;21;27;10 - 00;21;44;11

Yeah. It's like, well, the pimento, he puts his garlic pimento in a vampire's olive oil. And I've got in the vampire it's like 00000 yeah. You got it. Anyone who knows about putting a pimento in an olive oil, you got to ease it end. Okay. You know, you need a lot of olive oil. This has gone on way too long.

00;21;44;18 - 00;22;13;00

I'm sorry that I ever started this. I don't even like olives. Wow, Casey, that's so. Okay. Well, let's go to the O'Grady farm to meet a 600 year old olive stuffing shoemaker. Perfect. It's named Lupton the leprechaun. Let's do it. Do.

00;22;13;02 - 00;22;28;04

You know.

00;22;28;07 - 00;22;50;22

How? Okay, so, for the leprechaun, we have six official monster reveals. And, if you're new to the show, a monster reveal is any time the monster is revealed to a character in the movie. Or to us as an audience, where we find out they are a monster. So we have six official monster reveals for Leprechaun and Casey.

00;22;50;22 - 00;23;10;16

Since this was your pick for our unlucky Fox triple feature, could you please read the synopsis from my IMDb? Listen, absence is, pretty great. It's, short and sweet. Okay? An evil, sadistic leprechaun goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold. Okay, it's not a pot of gold, though. It's a set. Yeah, yeah.

00;23;10;16 - 00;23;26;27

How come I wonder why they didn't do the pot? Because it's easier to carry a sack around, I think, because they, like, carry it around and take it, you know, like it'd be weird. Speak for yourself. I mean, it's not like you would think carrying a sack around would just be, like, instinctual, right? Yeah. But, like, man, there's got to be some support there.

00;23;26;29 - 00;23;54;10

I don't I'm not a boxer, man. Yeah, well, how much gold do you have in yours of money? Yeah. Oh, I got quite a bit of gold. Yeah. Lighten your load. I got, like, the biggest second gold. I have arguably like, it's almost, like, too big. Yeah. Oh, God. I lost count. You know, I love the human body, but balls are not where it's at, so.

00;23;54;17 - 00;24;15;12

Oh, I love balls. I know you do, Danny. I'm about to have to empty all my gold coins out of my gold set to be a master. I've used my gold. Back. It did sound like that. Yeah. This is.

00;24;15;14 - 00;24;18;28

We're.

00;24;19;00 - 00;24;42;20

Oh, my God, no, no jumping jacks today. I need them. No, I'm gonna have to get a, vasectomy. Oh. Oh, are you scary? That's scary. Yeah. I don't want to do that. Shut up. It is not. Dude, you can't even. You don't. You're not even asleep. Yeah. You're awake. Fucking not invasive it is, bro.

00;24;42;21 - 00;24;58;22

Dude, I can't zip your shit. You sit with a you sit with a cold pack on your balls for a day and you're fine. Think about a woman having a fucking birth, bro. First of all. Second of all, they give women IUDs without any anesthesia. Do you know how badly those are? I'm going to just think sperm stands right here.

00;24;58;22 - 00;25;15;21

I don't think any of this stuff is okay. I think everyone should be put under for all of the things where they give you a local anesthesia. You don't need to be put under, but you can't feel anything. It's not like they're just going to just let your fucking dick. Stop it. It's not like it's just going to empty your pot of gold.

00;25;15;23 - 00;25;37;05

So you will get into this world where they literally try to cut your dick off. Like hospitals are a very scary place for for genitals. Yep. Circumcision. Yeah. It's scary. I don't want to. Yeah. Well circumcisions are weird. That's. Yeah. It is very strange that we do that to children. If you want to hear a deeper dive into our talk on circumcision, check out our episode on The Wicker Man.

00;25;37;12 - 00;26;00;23

Yeah, yeah. We talk about quite a bit, But it's not our fault. It was. It was. It was set up in the movie. They had a jar of dried, foreskins for some reason. Yeah, yeah. Well, anyways, anyway, that's done. Emptying is his sack gold. So I guess we can move on with the show now.

00;26;00;25 - 00;26;23;02

Oh. Okay, back to the our fucking topic at hand here. The movie is pretty simple. Lyrics. Once it's gold, they have it. Half the people don't know they have it and they're after them, and it's a whole thing. And then that's. He just wants nice and straightforward. Yeah. And that's always, you know, sometimes that is a, sometimes you need that.

00;26;23;05 - 00;26;43;11

Yeah. So in a movie, just like a little simple, straight to the point, we don't really talk about it. You guys like this movie? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Danny. Yeah, yeah. I, I will say that I in in rewatching it after so many years, I didn't love it as much as I thought I did. Okay. But it's still fun.

00;26;43;11 - 00;27;02;25

Like, I still. Yeah. But there's things about it that, like, weren't, you know, earlier I mentioned that he's not, like, menacing. Yeah. I mean, he's defeated by a fucking four leaf clover. So. Yeah. You know, I actually watch this movie within the last couple years. I watched it like two years ago on, say, Battery Day. Okay. So I've seen it.

00;27;02;25 - 00;27;24;17

I will say this, I, I almost feel like this movie would have worked really well if the main character was actually Alex. And this was a movie about like a kid who sees a leprechaun and like, no one believes him because ultimately he kind of has the final blow and he sort of is a very, commanding kind of type A character.

00;27;24;17 - 00;27;44;29

He's really kind of leading the charge when he's on screen. But you know. Yeah. I'm not here to rewrite history, I'm just here to talk about it. So and I did like I mean like going into it this time knowing that it was like originally more comical. I was like okay, because I actually didn't remember a lot of the comic bits that were in this.

00;27;45;05 - 00;28;15;07

Yeah. You know, that when I was a kid would have been like, not realizing they were funny. Yeah. I mean, like, Danny, a lot of speed ramping in this movie. Yeah, I know, I know, you love your speed revving. I was like, God damn it. But it's in this movie. It works like, because it's just so ridiculous. Yeah, I will say the leprechaun of all the movie monsters that I was aware of as a kid, leprechaun maybe was the one that I found to be the most scary.

00;28;15;10 - 00;28;36;06

Oh, kind of like, but he just really freaked me out. Sure. I mean, he is scary, like, just to look at, you know, I guess for part two, they did like a promotion where he, like, Warwick Davis, like, got in the costume, like, went out on the streets of New York City. So that would be fucking freaky to, like, see the figure.

00;28;36;08 - 00;28;58;21

But, Okay. Should we jump into our first reveal? It's going to take us a while. Just kidding. It's the first scene in the movie. Yeah, I like that, though. I like it when things are set up with the kill. No, but, like, even like the very first. Like the opening shot. There's no credits. He just, like, comes down the stairs in his little dungeon and he's like, I'm going to kill people who steal my goal.

00;28;58;22 - 00;29;21;18

Yeah, and you'll be okay. Okay. But, yeah, it's like those movies, you know, I'm trying to think there was another example of a movie I can't think of right now, but like movies that just, like, start. And you're almost like, did I miss something? You know what I mean. There's no like there's no foreplay. It's not even like a like a fade in or like even like a single credit that says like try mark pictures present.

00;29;21;18 - 00;29;44;01

It's just like boom, the movies go in and you're like, wait a second, what's that? Well, because it is technically like this movie has two cold opens between this introduction and then the following scene at the O'Grady house. But then at the O'Grady house, Mr. O'Grady, Dan O'Grady sets up the fact that there was like another cold open that we didn't see when he first meets the leprechaun.

00;29;44;03 - 00;30;01;25

Right. So it almost seemed like maybe they were like where do we want to start? And they're like, let's just we'll talk about that one. We can't do any follow up and we have enough as it is. Yeah. They set up the whole movie in the first shot. It's the leprechaun. We've got our monster. And he says, if they whoever steals my gold, they're not going to live through the night.

00;30;02;00 - 00;30;28;12

Like. And that's the movie. There we go. Try Mark's like, let's get it. We don't have time for this shit. Yeah, because Mark Jones, who made this was a first time director, and I guess, like, try. Mark offered him a lot of money not to direct it. And he was like, no, I'm doing this. Well. And, they had said at the beginning of filming, they were like, if we don't like dailies two days in a row, you're fired.

00;30;28;14 - 00;30;47;29

So, but then I guess they came around and he he got to. They love the daily to keep going, but they they love the movie. Looks great. Like a lot of the movie really for especially for a movie that you said it was $1 million. Yeah. 900,000 in 19 62 or 3. Yeah. Yeah. That's great. So would it like today's standards would have been a little bit more than a million.

00;30;47;29 - 00;31;13;13

But I think, Mark, you did a great job. But yeah okay. So our so our second reveal, the first reveals really quick second reveal is Mrs. O'Grady meeting the leprechaun in the suitcase? Yeah. Well, at this point, Dan, her husband said he came back from Ireland to, I think, bury his mother. And if there was any, confusion as to whether or not if there was any question, I guess, as to whether or not these characters were from Ireland.

00;31;13;13 - 00;31;34;01

They laid on pretty thick with their accents. Yeah. Yeah, but they're living in North Dakota. I think they mentioned later he said he found some gold after he met a leprechaun and was able to basically weasel it away from him. I wonder how that happened. Yeah, I was that's the thing. It's like, that's the whole story. But in the first place, he probably set a trap.

00;31;34;01 - 00;31;58;24

He's just a little bitch, you know? He just wants somebody to take it. Yeah, yeah. Which, you know, it goes back to my whole, like, not very menacing thing. Like, he seems pretty easy to deal with. They just give him back the gold and, maybe Dan O'Grady's mom, like, maybe she had the gold, or maybe the leprechaun lived, like, un around her property.

00;31;59;00 - 00;32;13;13

So, like, as there's a whole movie there, I feel like. Yeah, but still, like, he killed his fucking wife. And you could have been like, he wasn't even at that point. He wasn't even, like. Do you just take the golden get out of here? He was like, no, I'm still going to take this gold. He's greedy and greedy.

00;32;13;13 - 00;32;32;26

O'Grady. Oh, greedy. Oh, greedy. It would have been neat if, like, maybe you found out that the mom knew about leprechauns and had the gold. And then after she died, he inherited a bunch of her stuff. And one of the things was his collection of gold. But once he took it away from the. How would she have had the gold and still been alive?

00;32;32;28 - 00;32;54;13

Oh yeah. Yeah, maybe she just wore maybe. Oh, maybe she had like a little, four leaf clover locket. Ooh, that's how she knows about all that shit that is. Truthfully speaking of four leaf clovers. Like, what the fuck was O'Grady thinking when he said he gets the leprechaun in the box? Right in the gate? He sets the four leaf clover on top.

00;32;54;13 - 00;33;09;19

Great. That's all well and good. He's like, you're trapped here. Because the power of this for the clover will keep you in there. And then he's going to burn it. Yeah. Like, what did he think was going to happen to the four leaf clover. Well he sets up later. We are jumping around, just like, a leprechaun in this movie.

00;33;09;21 - 00;33;30;07

When he's on a pogo stick, he is. He tells us he establishes the fact that a four leaf clover will actually kill it. Yeah, all he does is trap it. Yeah, yeah. He also has throw the four leaf clover in the crate, bro. Yeah, right. He has a four leaf clover or I guess he it it's not for clover but it is like a whole, you know, he says it like a clover patch.

00;33;30;11 - 00;33;50;29

I call the well in the yard. Yeah. Which do something is very much just like painted grass. Yeah. Or like it is shining like a green light on it. If you look close, they like, stapled another clover onto it just for like, she's like digging through the for the clover. And it's like a little clump being a patch of grass.

00;33;50;29 - 00;34;15;18

And she's like, we'll never find it. There's too many clovers. And I'm like, there's clearly not that many clover pretend it's a watercress salad. Just, you know, you get. But yeah, Mrs. O'Grady, she hears like the leprechaun can, like, disguise his voice and, like, manipulate it like the voice changer and scream three. Yes. So what he's got, like, opens it up, it's Ghostface.

00;34;15;21 - 00;34;35;22

But it's singing. What is it? Mary had a little lamb or twinkle, twinkle little star. Oh, I don't even. Yeah. Remember okay I don't I feel like I'm on this train of, like, finding things to criticize in this movie. But her husband's name is Dan. I wish in the that there's the Irish, you know. Oh, the pipes.

00;34;35;22 - 00;34;55;01

The pipes are calling. Oh, they should have done that. That's all I'm gonna say. And I've done. That's my last criticism. I find that hard to believe. I think you'll you'll find something, Danny. I think so, yeah, I think so. But why a man, that was fucking creepy. Why would you go to the suitcase? How was there a little girl that fits in that suitcase like it's not?

00;34;55;04 - 00;35;14;18

I mean, yeah. Well, okay, you'd be confused. I mean, like a little girl that she's, like, the way her voice sounded. Whatever age that is would not fit in that suitcase. Yeah, yeah, but what does that mean? You just go, Whatever. And you just leave the suitcase there. Burn it, ask it some questions, I guess.

00;35;14;18 - 00;35;32;03

Yeah. Call a priest, call a priest. Ask it something like, who are you? Are you sick? When the when the suitcase pops open? It was almost like, It reminded me of fluffy from Creepshow. Oh, yeah. The eyes. Like when the crate opens. Just like the eyes, the red eyes. And then the leprechaun pops out and knocks it out like she doesn't.

00;35;32;03 - 00;36;00;04

He doesn't really killer. She just falls down the stairs. He was gonna kill her. But it just so happened that she fell down the stairs in a really silly way. Yeah, and she did flips, man. Cartwheels down to her death. She did? It's funny. So when Dan comes home to kind of investigate and realizes that his wife is dead and everything, that the leprechaun is here, Legion and stuff.

00;36;00;06 - 00;36;26;07

What a name. Loved in the gun when he's in the crate and he's trapped in there, he is kind of saying, like, I curse you, Dan O'Grady. Yeah, they don't really. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe he wasn't being literal, but he does have a stroke. Oh, shortly thereafter. So I was curious if like, the like basically before we like, really get into like this monster as we're meeting him, like, what are the rules if there are any.

00;36;26;09 - 00;36;48;09

I don't think there are. Yeah. I had first thought that in my interpretation of that scene, I always thought that the loved in the leprechaun man, was was he like, did that to O'Grady? Yeah. Me too. Like, because he would be like, oh, what's the matter? Did the did the match blow out, like all that stuff?

00;36;48;09 - 00;37;04;19

He's like, what? Why is having a hard time there, Danny boy? So like, he knew what was happening. And then it's one of those things where I was you try to I was trying to clock a lot of the consistency in this movie with his powers, because there were times where, yeah, are you going to criticize now?

00;37;04;21 - 00;37;26;05

Not I will not say like I will, refrain from, were you going to say no, let me let me know. I'll take this one. Let me know if you were going to say that like later when he uses his powers, there's like that green light that signifies he's using a power. Oh. Great point. I wasn't going to say, but that's a that's a really good point.

00;37;26;09 - 00;37;46;28

I was going to be a little broader on the fact that, like, like, for example, I'm jumping around too much and I apologize, but, this is the show when Jennifer, when Tori escapes in the Jeep and he goes to chase her. Yeah. I wonder why he wouldn't just kind of teleport into the car as opposed to, I don't know, there's, like, little things.

00;37;47;02 - 00;38;09;16

He wanted to use the roller skates. Yeah, he was just having fun. He does. That's fair. I'll give him that. Because like, later, they also they trap him out of the house and they, they kind of imply they the two, Nathan and Ozzy are like, like relieved once they finally close the door. But it's like, no, we've already established that he just kind of appears in places.

00;38;09;16 - 00;38;39;05

So yeah, that that ladies and gentlemen, is my final critique. Okay. Yeah. Because he'll like, like like there's that one scene where he's like in the refrigerator or like, yeah, he's in the safe, you know, like he just like, is there somehow. So, and I think maybe, like, did the leprechaun do that to Dan O'Grady? And then whoever found him, like, an ambulance or whatever, like, I don't know how they found him, because his wife was dead, but they were just like, oh, he must have had a stroke.

00;38;39;07 - 00;39;00;08

Yeah. You know, I don't know, like, he's got the leprechaun curse. He's, Yeah. Caused by a leprechaun. You know, like, you can still function after a stroke. So maybe he called afterwards, and, but, sure, it fucked him up too bad. Oh, I see you're saying. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Then he had to go live in a home because he wasn't able to properly function to live alone after that.

00;39;00;10 - 00;39;22;07

And he was like, there's a leprechaun in the basement, and everyone's like, this guy just had a stroke. Yeah, yeah, this guy's a stroke, and he's not so sick and, like, he doesn't know what I'm talking about. Yeah, but then it's ten years later. Tori and her father are moving to this house, and, you know, they get in, it's covered in cobwebs and everything, like, oh, I hate when Tori sees that fucking tarantula in the basement.

00;39;22;07 - 00;39;44;24

Yeah, she is way to calm. It is like, right there. And she's like, I look at that spider. Look how big that spider is. I wouldn't do fuck, I would be out of there. So yeah, especially like the way they set her up to be like, oh, I miss them all and stuff. You see a fucking tarantula just like 3 or 4ft away from you climbing up the wall, I think was in North Dakota.

00;39;44;25 - 00;40;07;18

Oh, God. I know there's tarantulas here in Oklahoma. Fuck. Wait. Are there really? Yeah, I've seen one crossing the road. When I was, like, not near me, but like, when I was, like, driving out in, like, a more rural area. There's one crossing the road. And then, my buddy Mike, who lives in a, you know, just like a suburb outside, said he had one on his sidewalk one time.

00;40;07;21 - 00;40;25;07

Cool. And in certain parts of the year, I don't know if it happens every year. Or maybe it's just every so many years, there's, like, a tarantula migration, They like. I don't need to hear these things. They like, they like. I want to say swarm, but, like, they just, like, travel across and I'm like, nope.

00;40;25;09 - 00;40;45;00

Let's look at that flock of. All right. But you know what else is an Oklahoma fucking Scorpions. Yeah, yeah. Fuck is going Oklahoma is crazy. Yeah I can't, I just I need to get out of here. They have fucking tarantulas, scorpions and open carry gun laws. I need to fucking get out. Bibles in the classroom. Bibles in the classrooms.

00;40;45;00 - 00;41;06;14

Fuck the La Junta tarantula trek. It's each fall. It's each fall. Okay. Oh, it's mostly southeast Colorado, so that would make northwest Oklahoma. That would be northwest Oklahoma. Think they go they like travel. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if they travel to Oklahoma or from Oklahoma I don't know, but I don't know. They're just looking to meet though.

00;41;06;17 - 00;41;27;04

Oh, God. And so they want to make more is what you're. Nope. But they can live up to 25 years. They want to put there. Oh great. Tarantulas pimento and another tarantula is. Oh there's a cute. There's a whole website about this thing. Oh my God you guys I had a dream about tarantulas. Dude, it's all coming together.

00;41;27;04 - 00;41;49;03

I swear to God, I had a dream that I was watching a David Lynch movie. And Laura Dern was playing an old woman in bed, and then someone put a blanket covers on her and then pulled it away. And when they pulled it away, she was a giant baby tarantula. So you ever see that tarantula or the bugs?

00;41;49;03 - 00;42;07;18

Like, do you ever get on your Instagram feeds? Or. It's like they're really cute looking, like with the big eyes. Oh, sure. Like the almost tiny, like little jumping spiders or something. They're like, it was that. But it was the size of Laura Dern. Oh, oh. And it was like, it's little pinchers. Like, oh, it was Danny. What the fuck?

00;42;07;18 - 00;42;24;20

What did you eat before bed? I don't we, I know I had a weird dream, I was just drink some Metamucil. It's too much sugar in there. He had all of stuff with Pimentos. Oh yeah. Oh, he got it. And some olives. And then he got us all of pimento stuff before bed. And that. Stuff? It was Valentine's Day before this record.

00;42;24;20 - 00;42;45;02

I say. Oh, it was, it was. Yeah. That's too funny. That is so funny. But yeah, she was she definitely did not react the way she should have. I'm saying it right now. She should have it reacted. I mean, I the way they set her up. Yeah. I wouldn't freak out. I like tarantulas, I actually would rather see a tarantula than a small spider.

00;42;45;04 - 00;43;13;28

Oh, I thought you were going to say, rather than a leprechaun. Well, that too, speaking of tarantulas, which makes me think of the scene in the Monster Squad when the coffin opens and you see spider legs come out, and then the fingers of Dracula. We should mention that there is an honorable mention in this scene. When Tori name drops, we should mention honorably.

00;43;14;00 - 00;43;37;17

Yeah. Sorry, sorry. That's a joke, but I could not say she honorably mentions, Dracula. He has nothing to do with this movie, nor any of the lore associated with it, aside from the fact that leprechauns maybe are as iconic as a vampire. But, yeah, Dracula gets a shoutout on this movie. What? We're. Of course we're going to mention it.

00;43;37;21 - 00;44;07;22

It's the monster of all monsters. And I mean, you know, a fucking leprechaun could stuff Dracula's olive hole. Exactly. Got it. Why do people listen to this show about how can we didn't get that scene? That's a sequel. Yeah. Yeah, that should have happened in less than two. Leprechaun Dracula, a love story. Oh, it could be like, you know, like one of those, like, oh, like leprechaun meets Dracula, or it's just a porno.

00;44;07;24 - 00;44;26;20

Okay, so now in the movie, we're meeting Nathan, Ozzie and Alex. Who? Okay. They're painters. Listen, have they ever painted a house before? Nope. That's the thing that bothers me. The thing that bothers me is that they have a company called Three Guys who like to paint. One of them is a child. So, like, what are you talking about?

00;44;26;26 - 00;44;50;14

What are you talking about? Yeah, this this 12 year old child is not a part of a company called Three Guys who like to paint. And is he like, is he like Nathan's brother or. Yes, he is Nathan's brother. Yes. Yes. Okay. And Ozzy is not related. He's just a friend. Yes, I believe so. Gotcha. Okay. Yeah. Alex, though I would argue is the most adult of them being the child.

00;44;50;21 - 00;45;10;20

Yeah. It's very. You think he's more adult than Nathan? It's like Nathan is. No where he is. Danny. Speaking of Nathan, and Casey too, like, what do you guys think of Nathan, There's a lot of heavy breathing. Really. I don't my per minute. No. Okay, no more pimento jokes. I'm more attracted to Jennifer Aniston when Nathan is in the band.

00;45;10;20 - 00;45;27;03

And over that thing to look at you for kind of sees the rat you see, is how the whole, Casey, you were more into Jennifer, Yeah. He doesn't. Nathan just didn't do it for me. I think a big part of it was. Well. And her flirting, too, but she's just a cute girl, so it doesn't bother me.

00;45;27;05 - 00;45;47;02

But the way that they flirted with each other was very strange. I didn't understand what was happening. So. Yeah, Nathan was a big dummy, and I don't, I don't I how sometimes. Yeah. You got it. All of it's like a big dumb jock. I. No, I did that once, and, Yeah, I couldn't take it.

00;45;47;02 - 00;46;01;11

And he ended up being really mean. So was like, you know what? Can't be dumb and mean. The dumb jocks have to be one hit wonders is, as far as I'm concerned, no, I you hit it. Quit it. I can't, I'm not even attracted to the person if they're dumb. Yeah. Hit it. Quit it and then tell him.

00;46;01;11 - 00;46;25;01

Get it? Yeah. But yeah. Nathan, Alex and Aussie are there to paint the house, which this, this might be their first job. Like they might the house is not prepped for painting. He is 12. That's true. So. Well, that's the thing. I think the house needed a little bit more than paint anyways. Yeah, yeah. As they create it, it's like falling apart.

00;46;25;01 - 00;46;49;15

Yes. Yeah, yeah. And it's like they like started with blue and then they're also doing red at the same time. And like what was like there's a story here about who. All right. I'm assuming Tori's dad chose the colors. Okay. So there's a backstory here. They leave, you know, the and I'm obviously guys, I am a gay liberal.

00;46;49;18 - 00;47;13;16

The leaving the liberal California la to move into the, you know, move into the country where they can, you know, set up their firearms in the basement, the government's not going to touch them. And, and then they paint their house red, white and blue naturally. So this is just one that's like full on MAGA conservatives but like pre Trump being political.

00;47;13;16 - 00;47;35;28

Yeah. It's very this movie is it's very it's a Prussian story about modern day politics. The leprechaun being an immigrant. Exactly. And they treat him immediately as a monster and steal his gold they stole from him. Yeah. Okay. He was here first. Yeah. Yep. So that part is. Wait a second. No. Hold on, let me.

00;47;36;00 - 00;47;55;09

Can I speak, please? Yes, I can get down to that part. I think that the house paint was on some dumb fucking guy that they hired to buy stuff for the set, and they're like, Frank, what do we get the paint. Get the paint that we sent you to get? And he brings out all these dumb fucking colors and they're like, goddamn it, we only have $900,000.

00;47;55;09 - 00;48;16;02

We don't have enough time. Yeah, fuck the fucking paint the house. I don't know, they didn't buy the paint. They found that thing. Yeah, he they found it in the barn behind the house. Yeah. I think that's where the story lies. Well, I think they wasted so much paint by, like, placing it on Toria and Nathan's arm neatly, like, neatly to make it looks like they were, like, deep into this.

00;48;16;02 - 00;48;41;25

Like, how would that even while they were flirting? Yeah, I painted a lot of rooms and walls. I, I, I don't think I've ever gotten myself honestly. Oh, I get paint all over myself. Yeah. But it's not like, so like no uniformed. It's usually splatters of paint splatters. Oh, God. Okay. Well, I think we will, for go our, conspiracy theory of the week for this episode.

00;48;41;25 - 00;49;04;25

By all means. Well, we already said it. Yeah, but that doesn't matter. You always say it first and then say it over again. I know, that's fine. That doesn't matter. Okay, well, let's just move on to, our number three official reveal. Ozzy, he meets the, leprechaun in the crate because he, like, brushes off the four leaf clover.

00;49;04;27 - 00;49;26;12

Yeah. And, leprechaun pops out, like, did pop out. He busts through, he bust through. Yeah, yeah, I love Ozzy's character. I don't know if it's because I love Ozzy's character or if I love Mark Holden. Yeah, yeah, obviously Francis and Pee wee's Big Adventure, and he played, what they call him Chubbs in, Teen Wolf. Which is fucking rude.

00;49;26;14 - 00;49;54;18

So, yeah, Ozzy meets the leprechaun, and then he goes out and tells everybody, and of course, they don't believe him. And. Okay, dude. Alex. Right? Why would you not believe your friend about a leprechaun after you just randomly find a bag of gold at the end of a fucking rainbow? A sack of gold, a nut sack full of gold at the end of a rainbow, which you said, like, oh, you can't find the end of a rainbow.

00;49;54;18 - 00;50;16;07

And then they do find the end of a rainbow. And on top of that, they find a nut sack full of gold. Why would you still not believe your friend that there is a leprechaun? This is why it should have been Alex. He should have been the entry point into discovering the leprechaun, because I feel like it's more believable to just be like, we don't believe your dumb kid.

00;50;16;10 - 00;50;37;28

Well, there's a reason they don't believe Ozzy either. Well, that's. I mean, because they make Ozzy kind of, challenged and, that's kind of like a you're saying it's like kind of playing into that same thing of like, yeah, I like your kid. We don't believe you, Ozzy. You're just saying more because they're giving us, like, cold, hard facts, like gum, like literal leprechaun isms.

00;50;38;05 - 00;51;00;14

Yes, exactly. Okay. You find all this stuff, and then you're still like, oh, Ozzy, you're just dumb. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, it doesn't. I? Yeah. Why would you not? I don't know. Well, the twist is maybe just Tori and Nathan are the dumb ones. That's true. Yeah. All the bloods going to their mento and not their brain.

00;51;00;16 - 00;51;28;16

Not thinking straight. All the bloods go into Tori's pimento bean. I was just going to say clitoris. But, you know, pimento being is better, though. Sure. But, yeah, I think we get some honorable mentions coming up now with Tori, who thinks that fucking Satan is sitting under the carpet, tickling her leg, caressing her leg. Like, what? Yeah.

00;51;28;16 - 00;51;44;03

They just they just met Nathan. He said, yeah, I'll be right back. I'm going to go hide under the car. I literally would have kicked the person under the car, like, even if I had just met some guy and then he was tickling my legs, or I thought he was doing my legs under the car, I would have kicked him.

00;51;44;03 - 00;52;00;25

And we're like, what the fuck are you doing? Oh. What's wrong? Well, there's an easy fix to the scene. To actually make it kind of creepy is they talk about it probably being a cat. They should have established the cat going under the truck and then have a scene where, like, its tail brushes up against her and then she can kind of swat it.

00;52;00;27 - 00;52;19;11

Danny, what are you, a writer or something? But there is no cat. But that's. I'm saying, bring it real cat in. Like bring a cat so that we can, like, set it up, and then you can kind of be more annoyed by it, and then all of a sudden scratch and then freak out, having it be this whole like, thirst trap with Nathan is just it's just it doesn't make any sense.

00;52;19;11 - 00;52;42;22

It's hilarious, though, isn't it? It is funny. And then that would give the leprechaun a reason to make a cat noise. To be a cat. Exactly. Because he'd be like, hey, I'll just pretend I'm the cat instead of exactly randomly being like, oh, I'll just practice my cat. Yeah, yeah. Well, you could also argue, this can go really deep in the sense that, like, why is he playing coy to begin with?

00;52;42;24 - 00;53;06;04

Because he kind of once he does reveal himself to them, it's not like he sets anything up to like, corner them. It's like, okay, now I got you where I want you. Now I'm going to reveal myself the only, variable that he gets out of the equation is Jade, the dad. But they've never. Yeah. Kind of established that Jade is more of a threat to the leprechaun, right, than they are.

00;53;06;06 - 00;53;27;19

So it. Yeah, it does feel a little bit like we just want to we want some set pieces rather than. We need this for the story. Yeah, yeah. But hey, like I said, I'm not here to criticize and I'm not gonna say no. Starting now. Starting now. Oh, that was your last one. That was the final critique. Yeah.

00;53;27;21 - 00;53;48;09

So, yeah, leprechaun bites the dad. And then they rushed to the hospital. We get a little set up where it's like a little foreshadowing with, like, the the engine of the car needs to be wiggled, and then the fucking leprechaun goes in the fucking barn and gets a tricycle. Yeah, I love that. It's like, follow them into fucking town.

00;53;48;10 - 00;54;14;12

I love that. And, this brings us to our fourth reveal, which is Joe, the coin shop owner. So Ozzie and Alex bring the coin that they find to the coin shop to, to get it tested or, you know, to examine, to see if it's real. And we get a little kind of a weird setup with the coin shop owner because he's like he hears some noises and he's like, who's there?

00;54;14;15 - 00;54;36;06

And then the fucking tricycle comes out of nowhere, which was not in your shop to begin with. It just randomly appeared. And then you're kind of just like, you go, he goes a little bit deeper on the who's there? But then he's still just like, I'll just open my safe tricycles, keep this tricycle. Customer. That's in a more recent movie too, isn't it?

00;54;36;08 - 00;54;55;15

But the tricycle is. It's not one of those movies where just the tricycle comes in. Yeah, it feels like a jigsaw. Yeah. Okay. But yeah, I guess he uses his magic to, like, get in the safe hoping that the guy is going to open it again. I mean, I guess he could just transfer out, but. Yeah, because I guess we're kind of going forward in time.

00;54;55;15 - 00;55;19;05

But in the sequel, in leprechaun two, he gets trapped in a safe or a cage and he cannot get out. Right? Isn't it a thing where leprechaun lure is like iron or some kind of metal? They can't. Oh. It's there. I think they're crypt. They talk about that in part two, I think. Okay, I'm not positive, but there is a safe scene in that, and it's,

00;55;19;07 - 00;55;41;12

Oh, that's a cool scene. Now that I think about that with like, it's maybe the best scene in the franchise, I won't spoil it. Yeah, don't spoil this is one that I would recommend. Watch part two, from what I remember, has some pretty gnarly death scenes. Yeah. In my head, I always thought that the Pogo stick scene, which is here in the coin shop, was in part two, but,

00;55;41;14 - 00;56;00;03

Yeah, I remember what. Yeah, okay, I won't say anything. Let's watch. Yeah, let's watch part two next. Let's watch part two. Okay, listeners, we're going to take a quick break. For about 90 odd minutes or so. So just sit back and, we'll see you in a little bit and we'll have a little bit more to offer in regard to the sequel that we're going to,

00;56;00;05 - 00;56;18;19

All right. We'll see in a bit. But then we're back and we're back. Time flies when you're having fun. Yeah. So he like, bites. Joe is the shop owner. He, like, bites his leg, I guess, and then, oh, bites his knee. Did you notice it's like, oh his knee. It's rough. Okay. And then he gets the pogo stick.

00;56;18;22 - 00;56;36;24

He likes to bite. Yeah, he's a biter. Maybe there's something to do with because, you know, you bite gold to make sure it's real. Oh maybe he's just like he's a biter. Yeah. Well that's what Ozzy did when they found the gold. He tried to bite it and he swallowed him. What if he actually swallowed his knee.

00;56;36;27 - 00;57;00;18

What if that was like a running gag in the movie. They're fighting things and accidentally swallowing it down. Oh, Danny noted. But he gets the pogo stick, and it's like, you know, supposed to be, like, a funny kind of thing, but it's like it is funny, but it's also really fucking disturbing. That's like, yeah, Pogo pogoing poke, pogo pogo jumping on this guy's chest.

00;57;00;18 - 00;57;22;00

Oh my God. Yeah. So he fucked. Oh, I almost could critiqued. I'm gonna love it. Watch it, watch it. So no more. But here he takes the. He finds the little car in the coin shop, which is drivable. It's so weird. Love it. Yeah, I wonder, but he takes off and he gets pulled over by a police officer.

00;57;22;03 - 00;57;41;09

Which is now our fifth official reveal. Is when the cop goes in and puts him over and he's like, doesn't believe he's a leprechaun. He thinks he's a kid. And then he gets attacked and. Well, yeah, because leprechauns, you know, don't exist. Yeah, I just, I mean, they do is when there's clearly a monster and someone's like, take that mask off.

00;57;41;10 - 00;58;02;00

It's like, well, all right, well, I guess, you know, it is kind of fitting since the writer, like, wrote Scooby-Doo episodes. That's true. Yeah. And it is literally a mask. It's. Imagine being in that situation, though. Yeah. Would you ever see somebody like that and just be like, oh, yeah, of course. Celebrimbor. No, I'd see him and I'd be like, fuck this, I'm out of here.

00;58;02;00 - 00;58;20;20

I have been hoping that monsters are real since I was a kid, so I guess you'd think it was a kid or a little person. You wouldn't be like, it's definitely LeBron. Yeah, I mean, that is what I look like as a kid. So, so so yeah. You think it was a child? I really grew into myself. I, I used to look like a leprechaun.

00;58;20;21 - 00;58;38;02

He looked just like the leprechaun. Whenever he takes his hat off and he's got like this, you see his hair. But, yeah, like I mentioned earlier, this was like a scene that was originally just supposed to be short. And then they. I went in and added that to that chase scene. I wonder how short the movie was without zooming an hour and a half?

00;58;38;08 - 00;58;53;18

Oh yeah. Less than an hour and a half. I wonder how short it was without all these extra scenes, they added. That's true. I wonder if there was more like comedy scenes that were cut to replace it. I don't know, it was just him riding a pogo stick in the earlier scene, no doubt. Like, oh, let's put a person under that.

00;58;53;21 - 00;59;15;18

Yeah. And then with the cop, he literally just plays hide and seek. Okay, so they get back to the fucking O'Grady farm and the leprechaun had been there looking for his gold. And so the place is trashed and. Oh, it's the, the bell that gets them. Ozzy found the little bell. And so then you keep hearing it and they're like, stop with the bell.

00;59;15;18 - 00;59;30;05

And he's like, oh, I don't have the bell. It's like sitting there on the table and Nathan's like, oh, I guess I'll go outside and see what strange thing is ringing this bell. But this. He cracked me up. It was such like a, you know, show don't tell in movies where we hear the bell and then they go, what's that?

00;59;30;05 - 00;59;50;24

And they go, sounds like a bell. It's very close. It's like, oh, okay, get, get trim the fat. Let's get to it. All right. No more critiques. That's my last one. So this is this is our, you know, we'll have a little bit more to talk about throughout this movie, but this is our sixth and final official reveal of the leprechaun and this scene.

00;59;50;24 - 01;00;11;09

This is when Nathan meets leprechaun. And also, like the whole group, it kind of blends together as they come outside and try to help Nathan in The Bear Trap. But this scene was so weird. I don't know how to describe it because, like, the leprechaun was just like, they're not doing much and they were like trying to fight it off.

01;00;11;09 - 01;00;31;24

But. Or was he, like, chewing on Nathan's leg or something? Or what was he doing? I don't know either. It wasn't like we're trying to understand the inner workings of a leprechaun. It was so, menacing. Yeah, I don't I mean, did you guys get that feeling when watching this scene? Like it wasn't suspenseful, like it should? No no no no.

01;00;31;26 - 01;00;51;14

Well, they come and start smacking them with sticks. Yeah, it was very chaotic, but not at all at the same time. Right. Yeah. Without any stakes. Yeah. Just chaos. Nothing was happening. Us. Yeah. Maybe part of this because, like, we just see the back of the leprechaun. Yeah. Like they never show his face during that whole, like, thing.

01;00;51;14 - 01;01;20;29

And then it until, like, Nathan gets out of the trap. Well, also, this kind of it's set up in a way that feels like we're entering the climax of the movie. Even though they haven't really met the creature. But then we have another 30 minutes after this. And I think that also feels there's a very strange. Again, this is my last critique of the, there's a lot of like strange pacing in the last I mean well not maybe the last time, but yeah, last 30 minutes or so.

01;01;21;02 - 01;01;51;05

And it starts with this. And I think that I think maybe from a filmmaking perspective again, in that they also, like you said, they only had like the under $1 million. So what they did obviously like has stood the test of time, in the, in the genre. But you can kind of see in these moments where it is a bit like, how do we sustain the momentum of this movie to get it to, a neat 90 minutes and it is a lot of stop and go ness of what we need.

01;01;51;06 - 01;02;15;29

We need this scene. Well, how do we get there? We'll just have them interact and then get away, and then reconnect with the leprechaun and the getaway and then so on and so forth. Yeah. So I think I think that might be it. It's just we don't know what to do. We don't know how. Because if you get to climactic in that moment and you really put up a fight against the leprechaun, you establish too much of like the strength from the hero's too early because then you have 30 minutes away because then your movie's over.

01;02;15;29 - 01;02;38;09

Yeah. How can there be? How can he be threatening if we just kick to the ass? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes sense. So for like, from, like, the point I made where it's like, you just see his back there was, I guess apparently Warwick Davis got sick at some point during this. And so for a lot of action scenes, there was a stand in and then like they would go back and reshoot like dialog bits with him.

01;02;38;10 - 01;02;58;05

Gotcha. So I wonder if that was one of those moments where like, but then why didn't they just come in and do a reverse shot and get him doing something? I don't know, I mean, again, very fun movie like like you said, Danny, it's clearly hit a nerve or hit a sparked, something. And so it's the franchise, made a big old franchise.

01;02;58;05 - 01;03;02;26

Danny, blink twice if you want to critique.

01;03;02;28 - 01;03;25;06

I can't stop blinking, but I won't do it. But then the second that Nathan Wright a little bit later, they're like, is he dead? And Nathan's like, oh, there's no way I put fucking six rounds into that thing. And I'm like, dude, Nathan, you put six rounds into a bush? Yeah. I'm dying. Yeah. So like, why did he keep shooting and waste all his bullets?

01;03;25;06 - 01;03;49;15

Yeah. Not knowing what he was shooting at. Yeah. Oh, Nathan is a true, little silly knucklehead in this movie, because. Silly knucklehead, there's that whole sequence where, Lupton is in the cabinets. He keeps telling them and telling them, telling, telling Tory to carefully open the cabinet so that he can shoot. It's like you don't have to open a yeah to shoot through it.

01;03;49;17 - 01;04;17;03

Yes. You have a shotgun. Just shoot. Yeah. But also he. But then not only in that sequence but then later he shoots loved in again and then is like I think I got him but he had already shot him earlier and knows it's already been established that. Yeah, leprechauns it doesn't hurt. Yeah. That's my, my last critique of the movie.

01;04;17;06 - 01;04;39;03

Well, let just like put a pin in that Danny, because next they go to get in the truck to try to drive away. And not only is the leprechaun in the engine of the truck, but then he runs to the shed and has somehow made like an armored go cart with a pitchfork on the front. When did that happen?

01;04;39;06 - 01;04;57;22

No. Okay. Did I miss something? Is it implied that he makes that in like, the few seconds that he's in the barn? Or was he working on that earlier? I don't know, Zach just doesn't know what happened. None of us know what happened. He's magic. He's got magic. Well, they could if that's true, that is true. He does have magic, but they could have to Zach's point from earlier.

01;04;57;25 - 01;05;15;03

That could have given him an excuse. Like where is he? Like what's going on? And we could have had like some cutaway shots of the barn with like, sparks flying to the window, but, you know, like you something's happening. Yeah, but then he's sitting on fire because of all the hay that you can't. You can't make a go cart in a barn.

01;05;15;06 - 01;05;38;12

That's true. Everyone knows that. Everyone knows that. That's my critique. You can't make a go cart in a book anymore. But he does somehow. And, he knocks over the car. They get chased back into the house. He, he gets his hand chopped off in the door by a door. By a door, which is funny. I mean, I like that, you know, the hand crawls up and opens the door.

01;05;38;12 - 01;05;58;05

And so that was kind of funny. But Tory ultimately gives him his nut sack of gold back. He's like, oh, I got me powers back. And then, he you think everything's good? But then he goes and counts the gold and you realize that he's one short. And, we know that the gold is in Oz's belly, but they could have gotten 99 seconds ahead.

01;05;58;08 - 01;06;21;20

They sat there and waited for him to count it. Oh, there are moments in this movie when they're trying to escape with the. But one of the funniest scenes in the movie, like, genuinely funny, is when he's cleaning the shoes. Yeah, they're throwing the shoes to distract him. It was driving me crazy. So I'm like, throw all of the shoes and then do it like they're doing one at a time and then waiting for him to clean a shoe and then go to the next one.

01;06;21;20 - 01;06;41;14

That's my last critique of the movie. But like, I was like, I don't like I get the purpose here, but the execution is leaves a lot to be desired. They're not smart. I don't understand why Tori was the only one that left. It's a great question. Number one, why did the other three stay at the house? Just in general?

01;06;41;14 - 01;07;06;03

Number two, they all know the town where this hospital retirement place is. She doesn't know the town. How does she know where to go? There's no Google Maps. There's no MapQuest. There's no fucking Waze. Well, you could also argue that that scene always feels a little. Every time I watch this movie, it feels like such a detour because you don't really get anything from it except, information about the clothes.

01;07;06;04 - 01;07;23;16

That's not true. Yeah, you get the silly part. Where is in the wheelchair? Yeah, that's. You have a speed ramp, wheelchair chase. I guess all the scenes in the movie, we actually need that sequence the most. Yeah, I was there. I was running with the, retirement home or hospital, whatever it is that has zero employees. Except. Yeah, I'm sick.

01;07;23;20 - 01;07;50;22

Except the couch. Yeah. And I was really tired. Was Dan in the ceiling? He was, like, in the ceiling of the elevator. Okay, again, he, like, Dan, gets all the great story moments and beat, but we never see it. You know, he's got this great journey through Ireland finding a leprechaun stealing his gold. He get clearly gets into a fight where he's like in an elevator shaft, like fighting with a leprechaun and then, like, gets thrown through the ceiling.

01;07;50;28 - 01;08;09;21

We don't see it. Yeah, but, you know, going back to, like, no employees in the fucking hospital. You working on limited budget, like. Very small budget for this type of movie. So you know they did a great again we're not here to criticize. We're just not with us or especially not you Danny especially especially not me.

01;08;09;21 - 01;08;31;28

Of all three of us, I'm the least one willing to. You're not. You don't criticize. It's not normally it's me. So. Yeah, one thing that we did skip over was the phone gag, which. Oh, yeah, is a very much a blend between the Nightmare on Elm Street, obviously, and Scary Movie two, but the strong hand. Oh, that's so funny.

01;08;31;28 - 01;08;40;24

I forgot about that. That little hand was so gross. Yeah. What's with the hand? Why? I don't know, it's it's a little.

01;08;40;27 - 01;08;59;26

It's creepy. Yeah. It's like a chicken foot. Yes. It was like a chicken foot. But that was a fun little, name on Elm Street nod. Okay, so earlier I talked about Alex. I was mad at him because he didn't believe Ozzie about the leprechaun. Even though they found the nut sack of gold at the rainbow and all that stuff.

01;08;59;29 - 01;09;26;20

Tory, as they are digging through the fucking clover patch to find a four leaf clover, Ozzie says you're not finding it because you don't believe. And she, like, freaks out on him and says, enough with all this magic crap. Like, stop with all the magic girl you're being. You've been chased by a leprechaun. You have like all this shit has happened, and you're still yelling at Ozzy to stop yelling about magic.

01;09;26;20 - 01;09;46;29

Like what? The clearly there's magic here. And what's funny is he didn't really go hard on the fantasy. It's like that's something that was established with him. Aside from like occasionally mentioning like, I think there's a leprechaun here. Well, I think part of it is like the phone call that he makes the police, that's where he calls them all the time.

01;09;47;01 - 01;10;11;26

His stories. Yeah. They're like, what is it? Oh, it's a leprechaun. The sweeping. That's a sheriff's like, he's a good kid, a leprechaun. That's silly. Yeah, but like, okay, so even that. But you've seen the leprechaun himself do magic, right? Yeah. He got. Dammit. So eat your fucking meatloaf. It's no story. Drink Evian water where your leather shoes go back to the mall.

01;10;11;28 - 01;10;31;06

Which also just cracks me up because the movie just decides it's about believing and having faith. Yeah, like I never established. Yeah, yeah. They find the four leaf clover right after they say, you know, believe. And she's like, whatever, I found one. And they, like, shine the light on it. It's great. Oh, I love the light, but I love it.

01;10;31;07 - 01;10;50;09

You can see it even when she's holding it like before. It shows it from her point of view. There's the light is on it already. Yeah. But like. Yeah it's. Yes. I don't know. Let's say in the meantime, while they're looking for this, Alex is trying to set the bear trap in the barn, thinking he's going to catch the leprechaun, but he's not successful.

01;10;50;16 - 01;11;09;19

He's being attacked by the leprechaun, and Ozzy comes in and he's like, hey, I'm the one you want. I've got your gold coin. Come after me. And, poor Ozzy, like, I felt so bad when he was, like, getting cut up with the venom with his, the leprechauns buckle to his shoes, and then Alex comes and gets the one liner.

01;11;09;21 - 01;11;25;13

The one liner is my favorite. And I. When we did go to Mars, you were like, oh, I think that this ice Cube one liner is probably like the only one liner that, like, works on these kinds of movies. Now, this is better. Oh, no. Yeah, really. You know, I mean, I think the fuck you lucky Charms. Oh.

01;11;25;15 - 01;11;44;05

Well, again, it's like a, it's, I think the reason I don't like one liners is because they're like, put in there to, like, get a reaction out of the audience. And it's not like something that the characters would say, really? Why would you not say it? I don't know, I mean, in this movie he probably would, but yeah, he's a kid.

01;11;44;07 - 01;11;51;08

He's a 12 year old that owns a business. Yeah. Okay, here's the thing. Know.

01;11;51;11 - 01;12;15;24

With liability insurance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He says fuck you, Lucky Charms. But earlier in the movie, we see a quote unquote box of Lucky Charms, but they're called Lucky. What is it? It's not Lucky Charms because they can. Oh, he was Lucky Charms, right? It's like a knockoff brand called, like, lucky Red apple cigarets. So, yeah. Red apples.

01;12;15;24 - 01;12;33;16

Okay. So, like, do they live in this world where Lucky Charms actually exist? So. And they just happened to buy the knockoff brand? Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure they live in a world. It's very weird. Exists. The only thing that doesn't. The only thing that exists in this world that doesn't exist in our world is leprechauns. Okay, as far as we know.

01;12;33;16 - 01;12;54;03

All right. Well, I mean, yeah, I'm glad you liked the one liner. It didn't. And I think I have a, bias against Alex, so maybe that, You do? Oh, he's the best character in the movie. Yeah. So 12 year old kid Zach. Yeah. I mean, I like the actor in Forever Young, though. It's a movie he made before this with Mel Gibson and Elijah Wood and Jamie Lee Curtis in that.

01;12;54;09 - 01;13;13;06

I like the actor in that. Yeah, yeah. Alex is Alex is some of my best lines from the movie. And he's like, he acts like I know he's we've established he's just like a 12 year old kid, but he acts like he's like, yeah, he's a business surance but he acts like he's so seasoned entire. Like he's just like a jaded old man.

01;13;13;09 - 01;13;42;02

Yeah. First lines when he's like, I could use a beer. Yeah. And, Yeah, yeah. And then he says he's like, can you die from swallowing gold? And he's like, yeah, after I kill you, he's just shit. Yeah, I, I'm, I'm with Danielle. I like Alex. Thank you. Okay, well, well, Alex shoots, the leprechaun with the four leaf clover and his slingshot, but, this was a cool little death scene where he's, like, melting and is is melting away, and he falls down the well, and then he climbs back up and he's like, yeah, I'll get me gold.

01;13;42;02 - 01;14;04;26

And I wish Nathan didn't get the final blow because it was also, again, Nathan does not know how to use, friggin shotgun because he finally has an opportunity where the leprechaun is like, physically vulnerable, like literally shedding apart where then he could have been, like, shoot him in the head with the shotgun and, like, explode. But he just kind of, like, nudges him with the button.

01;14;04;26 - 01;14;26;07

The gun. Yeah. Like he's probably out of bullets because he fucking wasted all of us, too. Yeah. God damn, he had such a he had a plan in his head. He's like, this is going to be so cool. And he goes to do it and he's like, back. Yeah, yeah. Nathan I guess he's he's problematic. Great to look at, but, yeah, he's eye candy.

01;14;26;10 - 01;14;52;07

He's I Lucky Charms. Yeah. Alex is definitely like the mastermind of the business. Oh. Uses coming around. He uses, like obsessed. I need you to sign the paperwork. Yeah. Basically. All right, well, that is leprechaun. So now it is time to pick our favorite reveals in leprechaun.

01;14;52;09 - 01;15;08;02

It's all on here. I don't believe anyone. That's how they can just. They're under this goddamn foreign.

01;15;08;04 - 01;15;36;04

Okay. Speedrun recap. Here we go. Six official reveals. We get the opening shot of the movie. Number two is Mrs. O'Grady opening the suitcase and falling down the stairs. Three is Ozzy removing the clover from the crate, and the leprechaun pops out? Four Is Joe the coin shop owner getting Po good. Five the police officer pulls over the leprechaun in the little tiny car with all the toys in the back.

01;15;36;07 - 01;15;57;00

And then our sixth official reveal is, Nathan. We'll call him the gang. Nathan and the gang, meet the leprechaun. That's what I call them. Oh, cool. They're a gang, Scooby gang. Scooby gang. Yeah. So, Casey, let's go with you. What is your favorite reveal? So, although I really do love the tiny car so much.

01;15;57;03 - 01;16;17;25

My favorite meal is actually to Mrs. O'Grady. Because I just thought it was really funny when she volunteers, when she did her cartwheel down the stairs, you know, good staircase stuff. It was great. Yeah, yeah. Danny, I've got to go with the, that cold open the first time we meet Mr. Lupton. I love the Mr..

01;16;17;25 - 01;16;37;06

I love that, I love we got a mr.. Now that's great. I like the the moody atmosphere. I like the vibes. I like that he just kind of literally enters his own movie right out of the gate. It's got a Limerick, you know. Is it? He's not. He is in the shadows, but he's not hiding in the shadows.

01;16;37;08 - 01;16;56;26

I don't know. I'm talking about I like it. Yeah. No. It's good. No, I totally get what you're saying. Try as I may try as I might. I, I like seeing the leprechaun in low light. Now he's, Yeah. I have to go with the opening shot of the movie, too. And, you know, I love that setting where he's like, we don't know really where he is.

01;16;56;26 - 01;17;17;20

He's like, in a castle or something to be, like, comes down the stairs and you get more of his lair. In part two, I was going to say, I think, yes, absolutely. Part two has like he's got like a whole, like underground thing going on, which is fun. And so maybe I'm associating that with this, but, yeah, I definitely have to go with, the opening as well.

01;17;17;22 - 01;17;32;12

A close second for me would be Ozzy, removing the clover and having me pop out. That was that was cool. But, Okay, now it is time for the segment that we like to call the real monster.

01;17;32;15 - 01;17;59;02

Run, run, run as fast as you can, okay? I'm the gingerbread man. You're a monster. I'm not a monster. Here you are. You and the rest of that fairy tale crash poisoning my perfect world. Now tell me, where are the others? Eat me. You're. Who wants to kick us off? Yeah. Kick us. I feel like I'm going to kick us off in a while to kick us off.

01;17;59;04 - 01;18;21;25

She wants to kick us off. Crash and burn. Kick, crash and burn. Okay, say, So, my real monsters. I have a few. I have Nathan, which I kind of mentioned this pretty recently when he kind of steals Alex's thunder with that underwhelming final blow. Oh, yeah? Yeah, I should have shot him in the face, but we obviously probably don't have any shotgun shells.

01;18;21;28 - 01;18;43;17

Tori for, she has the four leaf clover. And there's a scene in the barn after Alex is attacked. And if you watch, I recommend going back to the movie and rewinding it or fast forwarding it, I guess. If you're starting it from the beginning, rewind it. If you're starting it from the end, maybe you rented it at a video store and someone didn't wasn't kind in rewind.

01;18;43;19 - 01;19;09;04

Watch Jennifer Aniston. She literally just holds the clover out and kind of like, waves at Adam as you just, like, just literally just toss it at him. And yeah, currently, as far as Laura suggests, it would destroy him. Yeah. O'Grady for he again, I mentioned this earlier. He knew to kill the leprechaun, but decided to trap him instead.

01;19;09;07 - 01;19;34;08

And the ultimate real monster of the movie was the color of the house. Yes. Including the shutters. I'm just like God like, imagine living in that town and I understand like it's an isolated residence. So it's not really visible to a lot of people. But imagine living in that town and you kind of have like a general like esthetic.

01;19;34;10 - 01;19;54;21

And then these fucking assholes come in from Beverly Hills and paint it right, primary blue and then like red. Yeah. You'd be like, just see what they did. The old O'Grady place. Yeah. And then they break the fucking. Well, which I'm assuming was like a historical landmark as far as the town was concerned. Yeah, yeah, probably rip out all the four leaf clovers.

01;19;54;23 - 01;20;07;29

Painted their fucking clover patch green. Oh, and then they decided that was that. That's why the clover patch was green. Because the fucking fuck up paint guys is. That was the root. The green.

01;20;08;02 - 01;20;29;18

Yeah. That old antique truck. That's where like, the kids would go to smoke pot after school. That. Well, that's fucking gone. Yeah. This family, Jade and his family is, real. Oh, God. Jade, where? Where is he? He's in the hospital. Oh, so he's in the hospital. Okay? Yeah, yeah, he just feels very removed from the story rather than he was.

01;20;29;21 - 01;20;49;17

Well, it's funny because at the very end, like, because a cop all of a sudden show up and they're like, yeah, they don't know how to drive it. Yeah. So like, what changed from them saying, oh, there's a fucking leprechaun here. Don't believe. Oh wait, because there was an explosion. Well she calls. Doesn't Tori call? Oh, shit. Yeah.

01;20;49;17 - 01;21;09;22

But there's also an explosion. Oh. They fucking blew the well up. Yeah. Oh. That's true. And maybe they found the dead cop in the. Little do we know, we just moved the camera a little bit to the right. The sheriff's department is literally right next to it. So it come outside. There's a leprechaun like, no, don't even don't even look out the window.

01;21;09;25 - 01;21;27;13

But yeah, the dead jade, like, does, like, rush out of a cop car and, like, hug them at the end. It's like as the shot. It's like an aerial shot. And like you, there's not focus on it, but you kind of see them after this point. Yeah. Casey, who's your real monster? I have to. When was the dinner?

01;21;27;13 - 01;21;51;13

Because meatloaf. Okay. And the second is Tori. Because she does not know the difference between, North Dakota and New Mexico. Oh, yeah. Yeah, very, different places. Just. And even in terms of fucking geography. Yeah. It didn't. They feel themselves driving up north. Yeah. Come on. Yeah. You know, you can feel yourself. There would be like a gravitational pull.

01;21;51;20 - 01;22;11;21

Yeah, yeah. So drive it up. It's like, well, there's a lot that are up here. Stupid. Okay. I've got, the flirting in this movie. Casey, you mentioned it earlier. Like, the way they flirt is so weird. That is, it's just legs under a truck after you meet them. Like, what did she. That. There was one thing that she said that was really weird about an old man and a truck.

01;22;11;21 - 01;22;28;03

I don't know, I can't remember now. Oh, yeah. The way she came around was very weird because when she first meet some she tips, she bumps into him and tips his paint thinner over. And she tried to, like, buy it. And he's like, just say sorry. And also, what paint were you spinning, Sarah? What were you guys even doing?

01;22;28;09 - 01;22;50;01

All you did was dump paint on a house. We're cleaning anything. Yeah. Yeah. And and she, Well, no, she fucking, changes her tune real quick that that's like. Okay, you're right. Let's leave. And she's like, put the bags back in that the luggage back in the house. But anyways, yeah, the flirting was just weird. And, we'll go over here and check this out.

01;22;50;01 - 01;23;15;07

She's like, I'll stay with you, Nathan. Yeah. Strange, but my official real monster for leprechaun. I even thought this was such a real monster that I even put the text in bold in my notes. Alex is the real monster of a leprechaun. Like what? That little fucking number one. He's just a little fucking dick. He only criticism Danny did not have.

01;23;15;09 - 01;23;37;15

Yeah, literally. I had every criticism was covered except Alex. Okay. He's a little dick bag. Just in general. Number two, he's a 12 year old running a business. Zach. He shoots his fucking friend. Quote I'm going to say, quote unquote friend in the face with a slingshot. Like, what the fuck, slingshot safety? No, don't even the 12.

01;23;37;16 - 01;23;58;28

When you were 12, I was not allowed to have a sense how I made friends. Yeah, because you probably would have shot people in the basement. No, kids do silly things. No. Okay, on top of that, and I know we find out later that he meant it from a place of love and all this stuff, but, like, he tells his friend, oh, we'll get you an operation to fix you because you're dumb.

01;23;59;01 - 01;24;18;03

That scene, he's like, people call me dumb. And he's like, oh, just behind your back. Like, fuck you, Alex. You should be standing up for your friend. You should a great oh my God is an insane scene. I forgot about that. We'll use this goal to fix your brain. It's got a lot of weight on his shoulders from the business, that's for sure.

01;24;18;03 - 01;24;37;08

He's very stressed. Speaking of which, I wish I added another, real monster not to take. This is your, Yeah. You're trying to dampen the Alex as a real monster. So sorry, but, child labor laws in this town, I know. Yeah. Particulars. Yeah. No fucking get it. Get your shit together. North Dakota. What is this?

01;24;37;08 - 01;24;55;16

New Mexico and, Nathan, get your shit together. Nathan, you don't need your 12 year old brother to work with you to run a business. Get your shit together, Nathan. You shouldn't be painting houses. That's true. You are not good at this. Yeah. That's true. Definitely know. Maybe he's, Maybe he's a mobster. And they are. It's like that saying, like you paint houses.

01;24;55;22 - 01;25;24;16

I heard you. Yeah. Houses for sale. Or you kill people. So maybe they are, mafia assassins. Well, he clearly doesn't kill people because he also can't fucking shoot them. Yeah, despite he's a shit mom. Instead of, like, I hear you paint houses. Maybe you should paint houses. Should house. So he was a fucking mobster turned house. Painters.

01;25;24;18 - 01;25;46;17

He's like, I don't care. I was like, I don't know what I'm doing. Just slop the paint on there. But. Okay. Yeah. Alex. Okay. He tells his friend he needs operation, which is rude. Yeah. Ozzy later gets his fucking ear almost bit off and he's upset and fucking. Alex smacks him across the face and tells him to, like, basically suck it up.

01;25;46;20 - 01;26;13;02

And I'm like, dude, Alex, you're a little dick bag and you are the real monster of leprechaun. So I'm, sorry, Danny. Sorry, Casey. That is my answer. And I'm sticking to when you're outnumbered. Zach I'm not here to criticize, but. But if you do like that actor and you haven't seen Forever Young, I highly recommend checking out Forever Young because he's best friends with Elijah Wood.

01;26;13;05 - 01;26;33;24

And, is he also not the kid? Isn't he in, Don't tell Mom the Babysitter's dead? Yes. Oh, God, I love that movie. That's a horror movie, right? Yeah. I mean, the babysitter is kind of a monster. She is. She's she is, she's scary. But. Okay, so let's, let's do our final segment of the show.

01;26;33;27 - 01;27;03;19

Would you survive the 1993 trademark video production of leprechaun? And here we go. I would say how anyone doesn't survive the. What baffles me. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I think we're good. Yeah. I don't think this is much of, conversation here because throughout our coverage, throughout our previous conversation, we have discovered that he is not very menacing.

01;27;03;19 - 01;27;22;00

He's quite easy to handle. Not just that, but we're not thieves. It's true. And if a man said, hey, you stole my gold, give it back or I'm going to kill you. Yeah, here, I'll give it back. But yeah. What if you found a nut sack full of gold coins at the bottom of a rainbow? You wouldn't take it.

01;27;22;00 - 01;27;39;22

I would take it. But then when he came to me and said, hey, I'm gonna fuckin kill you. That's my gold. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, sir. Well, I would, yeah, you could just assume if I found gold at the end of a rainbow, that it probably was a leprechauns. And the same as lore. Having seen this movie taught me.

01;27;39;22 - 01;27;55;25

Yeah, I'd be like, yeah, I think he's so, like, he's very, like, demented. And I think, like, even if you gave him his gold back, he'd be like, you took it. And so I'm gonna fuck. You know what I would do? I wish I would ask him to bite me so he could turn me into a leprechaun. Is that how that works?

01;27;55;29 - 01;28;25;01

Fine. He learned that from Olive howling. I mean, vampires didn't even mention Dracula in this movie. Yeah. So, wait, is Dracula part leprechaun? Yeah. Trying to. I'm thinking it's like, what are some, like, parallels between vampire law and leprechaun lore? Gold glitters in the sun, and so do vampires in Twilight. Yeah. So there's that. Yeah. So. Yeah. Okay.

01;28;25;01 - 01;28;49;05

We would survive. I think we can survive an electric, and an electric one. No electric kind of attack. I want me gold coins. Oh, that's a movie. Electric kind. Oh, that's. Oh, well, an electric on an electric can do a movie about a robot leprechaun. Oh, yeah. I'm like saying that as, like, this is a great idea.

01;28;49;08 - 01;29;06;05

Yeah. What if you get, you know, like, leprechaun in space? What if you got an upgrade, like Jason? Like. Yes. Yeah. Electric on. I'd like to. He would be electric. Missed opportunity. Let's remake the whole leprechaun series just so we can get to that. Yeah, we have to make three of them just to get to four. Alex is the main character.

01;29;06;08 - 01;29;22;04

That dude, I was looking at his IMDb. He stopped acting in, like, 2009. I know, I know, so I don't know, I wonder what he's doing. Well, everything. So I don't know. Yeah, maybe he just had a change of heart. You know, you're a fan favorite. You're a fan. You're a two thirds fan favorite on this podcast.

01;29;22;08 - 01;29;46;02

Your, kid actor, you know, it's to have a weird effect on you. So maybe he was just like, I'm done with this. Yeah. Got out of the game. But. Okay, that is leprechaun. That's our second movie in our unlucky Fox triple feature. And, to wrap it up in the, next coming weeks. Danny, what is our third movie in anarchy?

01;29;46;02 - 01;30;16;26

Fox. We're facing the ultimate or facing death itself in, the 2000 horror thriller Final Destination. OOP! Yeah. Final destination. It's been a while since I've seen it. I think proper. I think I saw part two recently, like, somewhere on TV or something, but, but yeah, I'm excited to talk about Final Destination, and we might even have a, special guest for that.

01;30;16;26 - 01;30;38;04

So you don't want to miss that episode. And how could you start the unlucky Fox triple feature with Cabin Fever and Leprechaun and then not finish it with Final Destination? I don't know, so it's literally the final destination of unlucky people. Exactly, exactly. So why don't you say unlucky? Fuck. So you are going. Way to go, Daniel.

01;30;38;08 - 01;30;58;11
